Feel understood without explaining where you come from.
Warm, confidential online counselling with Achini Ramachandran, for Sri Lankans living far from home. And for anyone learning to belong in more than one place.
A space where your whole story makes sense.
I'm Achini Ramachandran, a [Counsellor / Psychotherapist — your title] working online with adults and couples, wherever they are in the world. My practice is built around one simple belief: you shouldn't have to translate your culture before you can be understood.
Living between countries asks a lot of a person. Holding family expectations, homesickness, and a new culture all at once, often while looking like everything is fine. In our sessions there's no performing and no explaining the basics. We start from a shared understanding, so we can get to the things that actually matter to you.
[Optional: a short, personal line in your own words — what drew you to this work.]

Whatever you're carrying, you don't have to carry it alone.
Common reasons people reach out. You don't need a diagnosis or the right words to begin. Just a sense that something feels heavier than it should.
Anxiety & overthinking
Racing thoughts, worry that won't switch off, or a constant background hum of unease.
Low mood & depression
Feeling flat, exhausted, or disconnected from things that used to bring you joy.
Living between two cultures
Identity, belonging and the quiet tension of never feeling fully "from" anywhere.
Homesickness & migration stress
The loneliness of being far away, guilt about family, and starting over in a new country.
Relationships, family & marriage
Communication, boundaries with family, cultural expectations, and couples work.
Life transitions
Moving abroad, a new job, becoming a parent, or any season where the ground shifts.
Grief & loss
Mourning a person, a place, or a life you imagined. Including loss felt from far away.
Burnout & work stress
Running on empty, pressure to provide, and the cost of always being the strong one.
Self-worth & people-pleasing
Quieting the inner critic, setting boundaries, and learning that your needs count too.
Starting is simpler than it feels
Here's what happens when you reach out.

My approach
I work in a warm, collaborative and culturally sensitive way, drawing on evidence-based approaches and tailoring each conversation to you. Sessions are trauma-informed, judgement-free, confidential, and led by what you need.
Questions, answered
Yes. A large body of research shows online therapy is just as effective as in-person work for most common concerns like anxiety, low mood and stress. And many people find it easier to open up from their own space.
Absolutely. I work with Sri Lankans across the Gulf, the UK, Australia, Canada and beyond, and offer evening and weekend slots to make sessions work around your schedule. We'll find a time that fits your life.
Sessions are available in English, with [Sinhala and/or Tamil] also offered. Just let me know what feels most comfortable for you. (Update this to reflect the languages you actually work in.)
Yes. What you share stays private between us, within the standard ethical and legal limits of therapy (for example, where there's a serious risk of harm). I'll explain exactly how confidentiality works in our first session.
That's completely normal, and completely okay. You don't need a script or the right words. We'll go at your pace and I'll help guide the conversation. Most people start by describing what's been feeling hard lately.
No. I provide talking therapy (counselling and psychotherapy), not medication. If medication might help, I can talk it through with you and suggest seeing a doctor or psychiatrist alongside our work.
